Driving While Intexticated: Trends in Auto Safety & Insurance
Speaker:

Paul Farrell
CEO
SafetyFirst Systems

The consequences of auto collisions are tragic and widespread. New technology, safety strategies, regulations and insurance methods struggle to gain a lead over the crash statistics that are reported each year. In 2008, there were 37,261 deaths on the road. While this represents a substantial decrease in fatalities, the overall number of crashes had only decreased by less than 2% from the prior year. Teens, Seniors, Truckers, Aggressive Drivers, Drowsy Drivers and Drunk or Drugged Drivers share the highway each day. Mr. Farrell will examine the major issues and ways that insurers are attempting to deal with these issues in both Personal and Commercial Lines.

Where There's Fire...is There a Fire Station?
Speaker:

Mike Waters
Vice President
ISO Risk Decision Services

Mr. Waters will review the challenges faced by the nation’s fire service in providing effective fire protection. As many municipal budgets are cut, fire department staffing is reduced, and community infrastructure investment is delayed, what impact does this have on the insurance industry? Mr. Waters will share how current issues facing fire departments affect insurance underwriting and property risk.

LUNCH: 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Recognition of IEDC donations and scholarship recipients.
