19952004 Alcohol-Related Crash Statistics
for Ohio
Alcohol-related crashes and injury statistics decreased slightly
in 2004, although the number of deaths increased.

 |
In January 2004 a new state law took effect
that made yellow-and-red "DUI plates," mandatory
for drunken drivers and motorists with
suspended licenses who requested driving privileges for work
or
school. More Ohioans than ever — 5,574 as of Nov. 1,
2004 — have the restricted plates. The majority are second-time
drunken
driving
offenders.
